Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the questions our clients most frequently ask us:

Do you sign Autographs?
If you really want us to?! We will bring the sharpies.

How long do you play for?
The Robert Digweed Collective are constantly adding to their repertoire. It is most common to book the band for two 50 minutes sets for an evening’s entertainment.

What do you sound like?
Please listen to our album on bandcamp. We play a variety of well known jazz standards. The majority of our work is for private events so we play a limited amount of public gigs a year – if you join our mailing list we can let you know when we next have one coming up.

What does your repertoire consist of?
We usually play a mixture of jazz, swing, funk and pop standards. Our repertoire is constantly expanding but here is an overview of our set list.

Do you play requests?
If you have any special requests then feel free to contact us in advance and we’ll try our best to make it happen.

How many members are in the Collective?
There are typically four members for live performances; consisting of sax, guitar/piano, bass and drums. Vocal sets are also available at an additional cost.

How far do you travel?
Our members are based in and around London, but are happy to venture to any part of UK (or indeed the world!) if additional travel expenses are compensated.

What do you wear when performing?
We usually perform in smart all-black attire. For public functions we tend to wear a more general, smart-casual dress. If your event is themed, inform us in advance and we will do our best to dress up for it.

How much do you charge?
Our rates are fair and competitive. We cannot provide a “usual” cost as every event has different requirements. Please contact us with some basic details about your event and we can provide you with a personalised quote. We also offer smaller band setups (solo sax or piano-sax duet) for smaller budgets.

Do you supply a PA system?
The band brings its own amplification and can function without any additional equipment. However, we would be happy to use a PA system if it is available to us, such as the venue or a DJ. We can also organise the hire of a PA for your event (additional cost). A PA will be required for larger venues.

What do you require in terms of power supply?
All we require are four standard mains sockets in reasonable proximity to the performing area.

Can I use the band’s microphone?
If any guests intend on using the band’s microphone for announcements or speeches, please notify us prior to the event so we can supply this equipment as they are not always necessary to our setup.

Why do you need to know my contact details?
We require the organiser’s contact details to avoid any problems on the day of your event and process payments. We details will not be shared with anyone except the band members.

Can I hire your the band/musicians for my own project?
The Collective’s members all actively work in the music industry and are available to hire as a backing band, either collectively or individually for studio work or live performances. Please contact us with more details about your project and we will let you know how we can help.
